Mission
Equip Black youth with the leadership skills, confidence and community connections to be catalysts of positive social change.
Approach
We use art and land-based learning to promote leadership, confidence and community connections, through experiential learning. We challenge colonial models of learning, by centring joy, curiosity and the experiences of Black youth that have historically been excluded from traditional educational and leadership models.
Our Story
Color In Practice was born out of a desire to empower Black youth in order to transform Black communities for generations to come.
We create space for Black youth to build meaningful connections with one another, nature, and other historically marginalized communities, centered around our Core Colors.
At Color In Practice, we believe that connection is the foundation of action.
We are a grassroots organization providing free and low-cost educational programming and resources to Black youth, with a focus on connecting Black youth living in the city with the outdoors. At our core, we are an organization dedicated to serving and empowering Black communities through educational programming, skill building, and community connections.
We recognize that the key to achieving these goals is to remain nimble and adaptable in the face of new challenges and shifting social landscapes. As a dynamic organization, we are committed to evolving alongside the communities we serve. This approach enhances our work, expands our impact, and is critical to work with our communities as they grow and evolve.
By staying attuned to the evolving needs of our communities, we can continually improve our work and strengthen our impact. Through this practice, we continue to push ourselves to be innovative, inclusive, and forward-thinking in all that we do.
To help us remain true to our foundation as we evolve as an organization, our work and approach is guided by our Core Colors. They are the underlying values that guide all our programs and projects, putting Color In Practice.
