Jamal Koulmiye Boyce (he/him)
FOUNDER & CEO
I have over 10 years of experience as a community organizer, educator, and advocate. I have consistently centred my work on uplifting Black and racialized voices and relentlessly working to dismantle systems of harm at national and local levels. My work is built on the belief that change is the product of many small choices over time.
I hold an Honours Bachelor of Social Science in Conflict Studies and Human Rights with a Minor in Economics from the University of Ottawa, and a graduate diploma in project management, program development and program evaluation from Saint Francis Xavier University.
In 2022, I was selected as 1 of only 6 National Pathy Fellows. I used my funding and position to address the underrepresentation of Black and Racialized communities in outdoor activities across the country and build meaningful connections between Black and Indigenous communities across Canada.
In my spare time, I love backcountry camping, hiking, exploring caves, and just about everything that has to do with the outdoors.

Sarah Sehabomo (she/her)
Research and Programs Manager
I earned an Honours Bachelor in Criminology at the Univeristy of Ottawa. Ever since high school, I have always been interested in organizing, mobilizing with and creating spaces for other Black youth and racially minoritized youth in general. This work has motivated me to be a member of several Black-centred organizations as a student and a young professional, where I hosted and organized events, moderated large discussions, and conducted research.
My interests vary but are focused on, but not limited to, Black feminist theories, youth organizing, abolition and pan-Africanism.

Judy El-Mohtadi (she/her)
Director of Operations
I am a grassroots organizer, researcher and advocate who works on anti-racist feminist solidarity in structures of learning. As a M.A. student at the Feminist Institute of Social Transformation (CU), I am examining the manifestations of racial capitalism in postsecondary institutions on BIPOC students, while exploring avenues of transformation toward social justice and accountability in university processes.
My journey through academia as well as my past experiences as a project manager have opened my eyes to the crucial need for anti-racist and anti-oppressive operational approaches in areas perceieved as 'neutral’, like logistics and planning This philosophy guides my work and involvement at Color In Practice.
On a more personal level, I deeply value the importance of community and land as an Arab on unceded Alongquin land. In my free time, I love to immerse myself in nature and take my cat Koda on adventures. I love to hike, swim, camp, climb, and bike. I am also a certified yoga teacher who teaches WOC-centered classes around so-called Ottawa.
